Alitalia is a national Italian carrier, the largest one in the country. The airline was founded on 16 September 1946 as Alitalia - Italiane Internazionali Aerolinee, and since 27 June 2001 it has been a mamber of Sky Team alliance. In 2009, it merged with Air One, an Italian Airline. The result of the merger, besides the increase in the number of aircrafts, was the increase of the destination numbers in Italy up to 74, and weekly number of flights grew up to 2,500.
